RESONO LAB 1+2+3

A creative learning environment will be the launchpad for exploring composition techniques and applying them to your professional development. By working with a wide array of professors, composer-performers, directors, choreographers and more exciting guests, your foundations will be as strong as ever as you showcase compositions and performances at the end of each lab. Every aspect of this course covers all your needs: Hands-on composition and performance will see you apply theory and concepts in real time and receive constructive feedback from your peers to elevate your stage presence and interpretation. Through group workshops, mentor sessions, lectures, guest presentations and collaborative projects, every moment will be unique and full of exploration for your craft. A monthly hybrid session with all RESONO students brings the community together so you can see, hear, interact and get inspired.

Learning outcomes:

The RESONO master shows further development of practical skills in musical composition and performance. Through experiments in group settings, they can communicate through musical expression, using it as a tool for audience engagement and cultural exchange and implementing creativity and adaptability. They harness these methods to promote their artistic visions while communicating with professionals in the performing arts world.

Artistic Research 1

Artistic Research 1 provides a multifaceted exploration of historical and philosophical dimensions, equipping you with a foundational understanding to inform your practical endeavours. By diving into the concise history of epistemology in European thought and other essential foundations, you will gain the insights necessary for making informed decisions in your artistic pursuits and research. The course further facilitates the application of this knowledge by offering expert guidance, enabling you to effectively translate theory into practice as you work towards your artistic goals.

Artistic Research 2 

Through time spent on analysis and methodological approaches, you will excel in good international practices important for sustaining a career. This course starts your journey for the RESONO master project by giving you a space to dream up ideas and concepts you wish to carry out. Experimentation in group settings gives you the chance to bounce ideas around and have a sounding board for, well, your sounds!

Artistic Research 3

Using resources, methods and tools for the documentation of your RESONO master project, you will develop a critical stance to further document your own artistic research proposals. Classes will be full of active discovery and construction of knowledge along with lively discussion and critical assessment of the various methods and tools for the documentation of artistic research projects.

RESONO Project 1

Move artistic boundaries with your creative process as you enter the production field. In this course, you will stay close to your creative roots while simultaneously learning to navigate the organisational side of the process. Business and production aspects are part of the game, but not often covered in artistic master’s degrees. At RESONO, you will be well-equipped to shine as a musician and an entrepreneur. During the course of the project, you’ll assemble a portfolio and work with a coach to elaborate your ideas. Craft expression, engage your audience and partake in cultural exchange!

Learning outcomes:

The RESONO master develops and showcases original, highly professional compositions that creatively extend the boundaries of musical forms and structures. They achieve mastery in live performance, focusing on both technical precision and artistic impact. Integrate relevant technology and techniques into both composition and performance (including but not limited to extended performance techniques, complex composing principles, technology-assisted composition and performance etc.).

Students develop their RESONO project during the two years of master study.

In SEM 1 they will connect to the target group and venue and develop the basic idea (pitching).

In SEM 2 students further develop documentation and show part of the Project. They prepare the first project presentation, communicate and share material with the venue.

In SEM 3 Students reach an agreement with the venue and continue the process.

In SEM 4 Finalisation and presentation of the project.

 

RESONO Project 2

Immerse yourself in the dynamic world of RESONO PROJECT, where you, as an active participant, venture into the vibrant realms of artistic production intimately intertwined with society. It’s not just about delivering a mere artistic performance – here, the heartbeat of organization, business and production beats alongside the artistic pulse with you at the epicentre of collaboration and co-creation. Hand in hand with your fellow students, you’ll forge relationships with external stakeholders and fellow collaborators to bring your project to life. The stage is set, and you are on!

The RESONO master demonstrates an understanding and further development of practical skills in musical composition and performance. Reflects and experiments individually to communicate through musical expression, using it as a tool for audience engagement and cultural exchange. Is able to reflect on creativity and adaptability, searching for solutions to musical challenges through experimental approaches. Experiments in groups with artistic forms and technologies into musical expression and the documentation of RESONO projects. Shows further evolution in a personal artistic vision and professional development, exploring innovative musical avenues and knows how to implement entrepreneurial skills. Explores other artistic visions and can communicate with professionals within the performing arts.

RESONO Master Project

The time has come! Embark on the final adventure of your RESONO master’s programme where the artistic realm collides with society. This multifaceted experience is the culmination of all your previous work combining the artistic with the organisational and business sides to present a fully formed piece of your soul on stage. You will push the boundaries of interdisciplinary exploration all the while with a supportive coach guiding you from start to finish. For this grand finale, you will present your piece of 60-90 minutes and forever be able to add it to your oeuvre as a testament to your mastery of the craft.
